Hi. I really, really need some good people to help out with this. My son attends Royal High School, and he reported to me that in his class there is not a flag in his class room. I am the daughter and wife of two wonderful Veterans. My dad, who has died, is probably rolling in his grave over the lack of patriotism in our country by those who do not appreciate our freedoms! I have to do something to honor him. I'm willing to start an organization to put US flags in every class room in Simi Valley. Plus, I would like to educate students about the importance of the flag and the importance of saying the pledge of allegiance. My son told me that a lot of the students are not willing to say the pledge in his class. I want to put together a slide show, get on the school board's agenda to talk to them, and present the slide show at one of their meetings. The slide show presentation would then be shown at school assemblies through out the district. I need people in the community with financial means to donate money for flags and for the cost of creating the slide show. However, with our tight economy I would be willing to do bake sells, car washes, or hold up cardboard signs at Walmart that say "need money for US Flags." Considering the cost would be less than $20 per flag it is a reasonable price considering the price many soldiers and freedom fighters have paid for our freedom. Also, anyone who would be willing to donate their time and expertise to putting together a media presentation it would be wonderful!!!! Then, I would also need people who would be willing to go to the schools, along with myself, to do the slide show presentation. I need people with computer expertise who know how to do slide show presentations. I want to schedule an informal gathering at the Corner Bakery on October 2nd at 10:00 a.m.. for anyone willing to meet and discuss this project, and help me organize it all. My name is Linda Brown. My phone number is (805) 210-2336. Please list the subject as "US flag project" since many of my emails go to junk mail.
