Joel needs help finding a permanent family
|
July 08, 2009, Simi Valley, CA — Joel is a 10-year old Colombian orphan is visiting Simi Valley this summer, in hopes of meeting a family that would like to adopt him. Joel is one in a group of 47 older children from Colombian orphanages who arrived in the U.S. to participate in Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program. Summer Miracles brings older orphaned children to the U.S. to enjoy a five-week summer visit with local families who volunteer to host them in their homes and give them a chance to experience life in a family. These are older children, ages 8 and older, who have little or no chance of finding adoptive parents in their own country.
Joel is a creative, talented boy who loves robots, cars, and playing sports.
Interviews are possible throughout July. During the 5-week Summer Miracles visit, Joel will be staying with local residents, Kelly & Chris Petrula.
During their five-week “Summer Miracles” visit, Kidsave staff, dedicated volunteers and host families work diligently to find adoptive families for these children. Over the past ten years, nearly 3,000 older children have found parents and Oscar connections with adults thanks to Kidsave’s programs.
The visiting children, which include older individual children and sibling sets, are staying with families in the following U.S. communities: Southern California, Northern California, Austin (TX), Washington DC Metro area, the New York tri-state area and Atlanta (GA). The five-week visit passes very quickly; the children can only stay in the U.S. until August 4th, at which time they must return to their orphanages in Colombia.
For more information about Joel, or if you’d like to meet any of the visiting Colombian children who need permanent families, please visit www.kidsave.org or contact Randi Thompson at 888-KIDSAVE.
Kidsave is a 501(c)(3) public charity that believes every child needs a family. An estimated 33 million children worldwide are orphaned, growing up without families. Kidsave exists to change that. Kidsave’s mission is to ensure that no orphan or foster child is forgotten and that every child grows up in a family with love and hope for a successful future. Kidsave’s Miracles programs demonstrate that there is a family for almost every child. Since 1999 Kidsave’s Miracles programs have provided nearly 3,000 older children with connections to families and stable adults.
