According to the statistics released on June 16th, 2003, the FBI has once again placed Simi Valley at the top of its list of safe cities in the United States.
On June 16th, 2003 the FBI released the Preliminary Uniform Crime Report, 2002 (PDF document, opens in a new window), its annual crime index rating of cities of similar size in America. If you would like to read the FBI press release, please click here.
For the 5th consecutive year, Simi Valley had the lowest crime index at 1,756, with Thousand Oaks coming in 3rd with an index of 2,030. Both Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks registered 0 murders last year.
I cannot emphasize how proud I am of the job the city is doing, especially the Police Department. A "job well done" goes out to all the men and women of the SVPD. Thank you for making our city the safest in the nation!
