remembering wendy haynes

our happy time in simi valley
|
my name is gary taylor, and in 1993 I started a (penpal)corespondance with a lady called wendy haynes..we became very close as friends, she came over to visit me and my (then)fiance in manchester england, she visited us on three occasions, I promised wendy that we would visit her one day, that day came in 1996,the only problem was my fiance suffers from asthma, epilepsy, and various phobias..including agoraphobia, this was going to be a real challenge to us both, because I was also petrified of flying, and had never flown...so our first flight together was going to be a challenge, I remember waiting for the flight in manchester england, frozen with fear, but I also knew that marie my fiance was taking a bigger challenge than I was..so I had to be strong for her, we eventually arrived in Newark (new york)as we was landing my fiance had an Asthma Attack, and I was the calmest person on the flight, she recovered and we only had a short time to make our connection to L.A.X. we raced to the next terminal with seconds to spare, we arrived in L.A.X. to be met by wendy and her mom marge mott, it was a dream come true, we stayed at the holiday inn (on the park)Anaheim, wendy visited us on two occasions, then with a few days left of our holiday we finally went to see wendys familly in simi valley, we spent all day in your beautifull area, it was a dream come true, I was sorry when we had to leave...as time went on I married marie, that was in 98, wendy couldnt make the wedding because soon after this time we discovered that wendy was ill with cancer, it was a very hard time for us,and wendys parents were both so strong for wendy, sadly wendy passed away in 2000, its impossible for me or my wife to forget wendy we was all on a very deep level, a true and eternal friend, I still keep in touch with marge and bill mott, wendys parents, I do have wendy in my heart and soul with me forever, wendy knew that, she was and is an inspiration to everyone who had the privelige to know her, I have kept the letters, audio tapes, cards photos, and more importantly the memories of an eternal once in a lifetime friendship, we would like to revisit simi valley again one day, then we could make a visit to wendys resting place at assumption cemetary, its important that wendy is remembered..because there is nobody else on the planet that I would have overcome my fears, and my wifes to visit..and we couldnt have imagined a more beautifull setting than simi valley.
